The 7th Annual UW-Platteville SUPERHERO 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place May, 3, 2014.
ATTENTION: We plan to delay the start of the race if we see lightening or experience unfavorable weather conditions. Check back often for updates!
**We are asking everyone to park in lots: P11, P25, P26 around the Williams Fieldhouse as well as P24 by the engineering building. Please NO parking on Southwest Road, as you will be running on that road. -Thanks!
To accommodate all participants of all ages and abilities we are offering a run/walk event. Attendees will have the opportunity to bring out the hero from within! Even though you receive a shirt after registration, we are encouraging people to embrace our theme by wearing Hero Outfits (encouraged not required). New this year, we will have a separate group for dogs and their humans.
The Super Hero Event benefits Family Advocates Incorporate. In the process we will also raise awareness to Mental Health Stigma. Did you know 1 in 4 college students has a diagnosable mental health disorder? 1 in 4 could be your friend, your neighbor, or your family member. But fewer than one third of students struggling with mental health concerns will seek professional help because of negative stigmas. We are partnering with the University of Wisconsin Platteville Counseling Service to raise awareness to mental health and reduce stigmas associated with it.
Come out to enjoy the cheerful music, awesome t-shirts with our custom hero design, food, and receive a goody bag. Make sure you stick around at the end for the Award Ceremony: Top 10 finishers, Best Female Costume, Best Male Costume, Best Dog Costume!
